Hybrid PWCS for a Multi-Use Community Hub

Kampung Admiralty is Singapore’s first integrated public development combining residential, healthcare, food, retail, and community spaces.
This diverse occupancy meant the waste profile was equally diverse, and Greenwave implemented a hybrid Pneumatic Waste Conveyance System (PWCS) to manage the diverse waste streams efficiently.
Implementation Approach
To meet the complex waste demands of Kampung Admiralty, Greenwave Solutions engineered a hybrid PWCS that integrates three systems: a full-vacuum system for the supermarket, a semi-vacuum system for food and care facilities, and a gravity-vacuum system for residential units.
The solution also includes a central compactor that receives vacuumed and manually collected waste, allowing for seamless processing of refuse from retail outlets.
This enclosed, automated setup eliminates traditional bin centres, reduces manual labour, and ensures odour control and hygiene across all facility types—aligning with the development’s vision for clean, efficient, and community-friendly infrastructure.

Greenwave custom-designed the hybrid PWCS to suit the site’s vertical, multi-use structure.
The team coordinated with multiple stakeholders to ensure minimal disruption and safety compliance during installation. Smart interface valves, loading points, and a dual-container setup enabled efficient waste segregation and transfer.
The system was installed to operate independently of manual wheel-bin collection, ensuring continuous and automated waste handling across all zones.
“Integrating three distinct vacuum systems into a single development with overlapping uses was one of the most technically demanding challenges we’ve faced—but it’s also where engineering meets purpose.”
