Modernising a Coastal PWCS for Reliability and Resident Comfort

Oceanfront at Sentosa Cove is a 264-unit luxury waterfront condominium in Singapore’s premier marina enclave.
In 2025, its pneumatic waste conveyance system was upgraded to address aging infrastructure and design constraints. This custom-engineered solution enhanced system reliability and the residents’ living experience.
Implementation Approach
The project involved a complete rebuild of the refuse pipe network, including a suspended dual-pipe layout in the basement carpark to overcome headroom limits.
Corrosion-resistant stainless steel 304 materials were used due to the marine environment.
The old underground refuse pipe was repurposed as a groundwater drainage channel, supported by two dewatering chambers. All waste hoppers were replaced with modern, soft-closing types, while unused recyclables chutes were sealed for better hygiene

Works were carried out in phases during off-peak hours to minimize disruption to residents. A temporary waste collection system was set up to ensure uninterrupted disposal services while sections of the old system were replaced. Installation of the new dual-pipe layout in the low-headroom carpark was carefully engineered to avoid clashes with existing services and maintain safety clearances.
Strict site management and dust control measures kept the environment clean and safe, upholding the development’s high standards throughout the upgrade.
“Delivering a bespoke dual-pipe waste system in a live luxury condo, with marine-grade materials and zero disruption, showcased our team’s ability to meet premium expectations.”
