Implementation of the AIRWASTE® Technology

The upgraded waste collection system at Compass Green includes a new compactor unit with the proprietary AIRWASTE® technology, replacing the old waste container.
Greenwave Solutions undertook a full design-and-build renewal of the condominium’s PWCS, involving rebuilding the entire network of refuse pipes and installing state-of-the-art equipment to improve capacity, efficiency, and sustainability
Modernising a Community Waste System for Reliability and Hygiene

Compass Green Condominium is a staff housing development for government officials, comprises six condominium blocks, each 10-storeys high, with a total of 115 apartment unit.
By 2022, Compass Green’s waste collection system had aged and faced capacity and reliability challenges. A comprehensive overhaul project was initiated to modernise the PWCS, improve its performance, and ensure a hygienic living environment for residents.
Implementation Approach
The upgraded waste collection system at Compass Green includes a new compactor unit with the proprietary AIRWASTE® technology, replacing the old waste container.
Greenwave Solutions undertook a full design-and-build renewal of the condominium’s PWCS, involving rebuilding the entire network of refuse pipes and installing state-of-the-art equipment to improve capacity, efficiency, and sustainability.
The solution involved rebuilding the entire network of refuse pipes and installing state-of-the-art equipment to improve capacity, efficiency, and sustainability.

A new suspended pipeline was installed to convey waste, and the old waste storage container was replaced with a modern compactor unit equipped with a front bin lifter.
The project spanned about 18 months (from June 2022 to December 2023), during which old system components were systematically decommissioned and replaced in phases, ensuring that waste collection services continued uninterrupted.
Temporary measures and meticulous scheduling were used whenever a section of the system had to be taken offline. Regular communication with the estate management and residents was maintained, keeping all stakeholders informed about work progress and any necessary adjustments.
“Completing this PWCS retrofit ahead of schedule under challenging site conditions has been a rewarding achievement, showing that a constrained residential environment can still accommodate a high-performance, modern waste management system.”
